How do Botox® and Dysport® work?
Botox® and Dysport® are both FDA approved neuromodulators that work by preventing muscle contraction and thereby relaxing unwanted lines that add age and fatigue to our faces. The injections are given directly into the muscle and can improve forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines on nose, lip lines, a down-turned or gummy smile, droopy brows, a dimpled chin, a square jaw (masseter muscle), and platysmal neck bands.
Improvement is initially noted 2-3 days after injection but may take up to 2 weeks for full effect. Botox® generally lasts about 3-4 months whereas Dysport® may last 5-6 months. Patients who adhere to a regular “maintenance” schedule will actually prevent wrinkles from getting deeper with age and help “freeze” the aging process.
Why should I choose Dr. Gupta?
Performing Botox®/Dysport® injections requires a thorough working knowledge of the musculature of the face and neck. As an oculofacial surgeon, Dr. Gupta operates on the face and neck routinely and as such, has an in-depth understanding of the location and function of each muscle. This knowledge in conjunction with Dr. Gupta’s artistic and meticulous technique is key in attaining a safe and natural result. As Botox and Dysport® are not recommended for every patient, a thorough evaluation is essential to determine if one is a good candidate for these injections.

Clinical Study:
As a leading national expert in injections, Dr. Gupta was asked to participate in an efficacy study of various anti-wrinkle creams as compared to Botox injections. 3 subjects from this study are shown below (Patients 8, 9, 10). For each, half of the face received a single session of Botox injections and the other half received topical cream daily for 3 weeks. The photos below depict the results after 3 weeks. You be the judge-which side looks more refreshed?
